“Girls, are you ready?” Miriam said excitedly. Although an older woman with mild features, her movements were riveting, healing even.
Her younger troupe checked their ankles to ensure the castanet-like instruments were secure. Still, others tested the timbrels to make sure they were in working condition.
Together, they bowed their heads, weeping with joy as they reflected on the goodness and glory of the Lord.
2 Let Israel be glad in his Maker; Let the sons of Zion rejoice in their King. 3 Let them praise His name with dancing; Let them sing praises to Him with timbrel and lyre. 4 For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the afflicted ones with salvation. Psalm 149:2-4
And dancing they did! As Miriam lead the charge with their prophetic worship, people’s hearts became more and more tender. Some even began to wonder and call upon Him for themselves. The other nations would one day quake at the mention of their God, but the Israelites didn’t fully know the magnificence and majesty in the God who set them free.
I know today’s post was concise when comparing it with other #BibleBackstories. No worries; I gave you the best I could after a very long but blessed day. May you dance with Jesus all the days of your life and beyond that.
Love,
Candace
