Rest, Lil Mama

…My Presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

— God, Exodus 33:14 KJV

March—It’s when we celebrate women’s history. It’s when we officially meet spring. It’s when so many good things happen, including my moment to be transparent. I always am yet this time I’m choosing to be more intentional.

I want to come clean about some things. This month my son will be turning four months old, and you know what? It hasn’t been easy. Being a new mother has simultaneously been one of the most fulfilling yet challenging roles I’ve been blessed to undertake. Why am I sharing this? Us women need to embrace that it’s okay that we don’t have all the answers. It’s okay that we aren’t perfect. It’s okay that we sometimes just don’t have a clue on what to do.

Why?

We’ve been designed to rest fully upon the Lord. He is our standard keeper. He is our strength, giver of peace, and joy sustainer. He is, in truth, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

For the new mothers out there who are having it tough, just pause and remember what a privilege it is to be in the ranks of motherhood. Then rest in knowing God has graced us for this. We are not alone. We can, and should, trust Him even in the scary moments. God has called us to be great—and we live up to it when we choose to hang up our capes and decide to let the Great I AM that He is lead the way.

Love,
