When was the last time you decided to go against the grain spiritually? What was the reaction you got from your family? Friends? Coworkers and strangers? Did you hold fast to your convictions or did you fold under pressure?
If you take an honest assessment of the motives behind everything you do, say, and think, most will be selfish.
This post isn’t about how I’ve arrived, mastered selfishness, and never succumb to pressure. Facts prove otherwise because often I have sought my interests more than I should. I remember years ago God was leading me to share about salvation through Jesus Christ with a cute guy but I allowed his looks and my flesh to best me. I ignored the prompting of my faith and my witness was ruined. I’m not sure if he ever gave his life to the Lord.
You may be thinking, “It’s too hard to live like Christ,” or, “That seems like a dull existence.” Let me assure you although it’s not popular, in Him is where life begins!
I once prided myself on my intellect and beauty. Though petite, I had an athletic build that was complemented by exotic features, so I’ve been told. I turned heads but, guess what? Despite my looks and fashionable style, my friendliness and brilliance, I was dead because Christ wasn’t my life.
And He said to them all, “If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Luke 9:23, KJV
In the very next verse, Jesus continues to say,
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for My sake, the same shall save it. Luke 9:24, KJV
Life doesn’t begin when we achieve some rite of passage according to cultural heritage. Life isn’t wealth we accumulate or how high our happiness meter is. It’s not based on vacations, good works, or the breathtaking artistry of nature. No, just because we enjoy all of that doesn’t mean we’re living.
The moment we realize what Jesus Christ has done for us, and our eyes have been opened to the truth about the blackness of our hearts before salvation, we are able to begin living.
I’ll be sharing a video to expound more so stay tuned!
Love,
