Cultivating Joy: Daily Practices to Embrace God's Presence
Sometimes a silly thought creeps into my mind that tries to tell me that I couldn’t possibly have joy in the trials of life. Sis, that happens to you too, doesn’t it? Well, we have to remember this truth. Joy isn’t dependent on circumstances—it’s a fruit of the Spirit. And even in mundane or difficult moments, joy blossoms when we seek the Lord’s presence.
Joy is a Spiritual Discipline
Like faith or prayer, joy is something we nurture. It’s a perspective rooted in gratitude and God-awareness.
If I were a gardener (by faith, I am😅), I would tend to my garden daily. I would know what each plant needs and ensure I’m providing it based on its needs. Honestly, Mama, this is what we do as mothers. We are in tune with our children, meeting their needs so they flourish and grow bountifully in their character, education, physical health, and, most importantly, their relationship with the Father.
Cultivating joy is just that serious. Without God’s joy, we don’t have strength.
Daily Joy Practices
Gratitude Journaling: Write three blessings each day. Thankfulness opens the door to joy.
Scripture Meditation: Dwell on verses like Psalm 16:11 – “In Your presence is fullness of joy.”
Celebrate Small Wins: Did you complete a task? Share a laugh with your child? That’s worth rejoicing!
Smile on Purpose: Sometimes, joy follows the action, not vice versa.
Invite God into Every Moment
Whether folding laundry, chasing children, or sipping tea, God is near. Daily practicing the Lord’s presence is the key to lasting joy.
I challenge you to keep joy alive as you enter the new month. Share your thoughts in the comment section!
In Him,
Candace
