A Day in the Life of a Faith-Filled Mompreneur
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony…” Revelation 12:11
Ever wonder what happens in a day for another Jesus-loving mompreneur? I can’t speak for everyone, but today, I’m inviting you to see what my typical day looks like, with faith that in my transparency, you find the beauty in yours.
Starting the Day Anchored in Christ
“This is the day the LORD has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24
Whether it’s the soft pinging of my alarm or gentle nudges from my husband, I'm up around 4:00 AM because I like to begin my day with God and my man. This season, we have a lot on our plates, so I aim to capitalize on every moment we can have together. It’s a joyous start to the day, filled with love and faith.
True to form, I practice what I preach and offer thanksgiving and devotion before busyness. We do this together on my hubby’s workdays before he leaves; on his off days, I personalize this time. Let’s not forget the water, breathwork, stretches, and a 5-minute quick workout to get the endorphins pumped.
Although I aim for consistency, every morning doesn’t look the same. There’s grace for this. I review the day’s plans, and then yield those to the Lord so He can order my steps as He sees fit.
Balancing Family & Business with Grace, Not Perfection
“First thing in the morning, she dresses for work, rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started.” Proverbs 31:17 MSG
Since I start my day so early, I try to block the time before the children awake to do some of my heaviest work tasks that require the most concentration. Whether that means studying insurance material, learning more about visibility, or client projects, I do this before the tribe charges in.
Once they’re up, we have mom and sons’ devotional time, breakfast, and then homeschooling courses. Until we change the curriculum, I am exercising creative engagement. This is where I provide the older two with their lessons, remaining available to them while interacting and entertaining the youngest. It’s not always easy; downright messy even. 😅 But I thank God that I am choosing to see the beauty in the chaos. It's all part of our journey.
When nature allows, after the morning class, we get some good ol’ fun in the sun, a nutritious lunch, and then business activities. These activities might include email correspondence, business development training, updating my website, or working on marketing strategies. Oh yeah, this is also time for some midday self-care—I’m no good to them if I’m not good to myself.
Overcoming Obstacles & Doubts Through Faith
“The just shall live by faith…” Habakkuk 2:4
Sis, don’t be reading this post (yes, “don’t be reading” lol) thinking that ya girl don’t face hardships. Listen, recently, I had to pause and pray through gritted teeth because the oldest two were at odds with each other, the youngest was running naked, and I was on the phone with my banker. Yes, I had to tap the mute button more than once to use the “Mom voice,” and no, I wasn’t happy about it. No, sis, I didn’t yell at them, but I did put my foot down. After apologizing to my banker, he chuckled with understanding because he’s a parent, too. I’m so glad that before that transpired, I had already agreed with God that the day was a blessing.
I’ve even questioned if homeschooling was right for us (and so did a trusted friend), but I had to sit down with the Lord to catch the real issue. It’s never been homeschooling; it was my lack of consistency with time management, delegation, and discipline. When I stopped winging it with my time, began to assign household tasks to different people and time blocks, and worked on discipline, I saw improvements with homeschooling. Overcoming these doubts brought a sense of relief and growth, showing me that with faith and effort, anything is possible.
I couldn’t overcome anything, though, without first believing I could.
Seeing the Fruit: Why Staying Faithful Matters
“Search me and know my heart; try me and know my thoughts...lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24
Sis, let me tell you, it pays to obey the Lord. My children are excelling in their learning academically and in understanding the Word of God. I’m growing in confidence within my business and honing my skills. My health is improving, and my marriage honors the Lord. This is the fruit of faithfulness.
I am not a self-made woman. However, I am a woman who has yielded myself to the Lord and chose to truly dwell and abide in Him. This cannot be done without willing obedience and choosing His perfect will over mine. The Holy Spirit is fine-tuning me and working this out in and through me; I cannot win here or anywhere else.
Love, as you see, you’re not alone on the rollercoaster and the ebb and flow of balancing family and business as a mompreneur. I’m also in the beautiful throes of it, but thank God that He’s with us on the journey.
If my transparency in this post encouraged you, share one of your testimonies as a mompreneur so we can celebrate you. Don’t forget to celebrate with each other!
In Him,
Candace
